Velloorkonam Kavil Bhavagavathy Temple is one of the major temples in Attingal Municipal town, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The Shadhadhara pradishta in the main
Sanctum sanctorum is Bhadra Bhagavathy. The Sarpaakkavu of this temple blessed with Nagaraja and beautifully surrounded with lot medicinal plants and herbs.
History :
As per devaprashna held
on various occasions, the main sanctum sanctorum have almost 800 years
old. Royal Soldiers were the ancestors of this temple. The Pradishta
was Goddess Bhadra. Nagaraja , Nagayakshi, Karinagar were also devoted
in Sarppakkkavu. But on a certain occasion due to improper management
the temple got destroyed and Devi Vigraham was kept in a hut.
As per the devaprashna held by the new generation , the temple
reconstructed and done the pradisha of Goddes Bhadra, Lord Sree
Mahaganapathy, Lord Ayyappa and other Upadevathas.
According to the Ashtamangala Devaprashana , the temple
reconstructed with chuttambalam and made pradishtas in 2010.
